Text Box: ATM Processing - Owner/Merchant FAQ

Q:  How much do I get of surcharge?

A: If you buy the ATM you get 100%. None of the surcharge goes to CommATM.

Q:  How do I set surcharge amount?

A:  The average surcharge is $2.50-$3.00 when compared against most banks.  You can set the surcharge at any amount $1.00-$1.99 or do it by a percentage like 5%-15%, depending on limitations set by the law in your area. Without limitations, surcharge is determined by the ATM Owner.

Q:  When do I get my money?

A:  The money dispensed by the ATM (cash out) and the surcharge revenue are deposited into your account via the Federal Reserve (HCH) the next business day. Funds from Monday will be available on Tuesday; Tuesday's on Wednesday; & Thursday's on Friday. Weekend transactions that on Friday (occur after normal processor business hours), Saturday, and Sunday deposit on Monday or Tuesday depending on your bank..

Q:  What happens when someone does not get enough money?

A:  This is extremely rare, but if this does happen the customer should keep their receipt and call their bank to verify the completion of the transaction on their account. If a withdrawal was made from the account and they did not get the money, a "Regulation E Claim" should be filed with the issuer of the card. 99% of the time the ATM reverses the transaction and you never have to worry about this. CommATM should never be called on this unless it’s a continued problem as the banks will resolve it. Our phone number is on the ATM surcharge sticker. NEVER give the customer money; you may not get it back!!  In the event the customer does not get all their money you are required to print a journal, which will show whether or not the money was dispensed, in the event it was not given to them you can be charged up to $35 as a administrative “Reg. E” fee by bank……….but again this rarely happens.

Q:  What happens when the ATM does not work?

A:  Contact us and we will help solve your problem on the phone or we will put you in touch with a local technician.

Q:  What are my expenses?

A:  If you purchase or lease an ATM you will need to pay one-time charges for the ATM or your monthly lease payment. The ATM will require a standard telephone line and a standard electrical outlet. One roll of receipt paper is provided with the machine and typically lasts 5-6 months; additional rolls cost less than $10.

Q:  Additional Fees with Enclosures

A:  If you decide to go with an exterior Enclosures, CommATM will work with you from selecting the best type of structure through shipping and installation. Typically you need to contact your local municipality to find out if you need any permits.  Once you’ve done that you will know if there are any fees and we can likely assist you with knowledge about getting it done…………..as again we have shown time and time again, these structures are usually worth the extra time and fees you may have to put in to them.

Q:  Are there additional expenses not covered here?

A:  No. There are no additional statement fees, service charges, or transaction fees.
